You Can Homeschool All Ages Together!

One of the beautiful things about homeschooling is that we can teach all of our children together. That’s called age integration. The World segregates kids into different ages to make them peer dependent, but we can allow the different ages to blend beautifully. While it is true that math needs to be taught sequentially, most other subjects are not grade specific. If you have a large family, it’s helpful for you to combine as many classes across the grades as possible. Let’s look at some examples.

Total Access to Worship

We serve a wonderful God! We are so blessed to be able to do this. He is Great! The Psalmist can sometimes overwhelm us with his expressions of admiration and appreciation of our Lord. The Lord can definitely overwhelm us with His love and greatness. Do you ever feel like you couldn’t possibly worship the Lord in a way that is worthy? “Nothing I could say or write could ever compare to what King David did.” “I’m not wise like King Solomon. How could I ever give anything to the Lord that would be good enough?”

Total Access Relationships

God made man in his own likeness and image. God made man relational. With these two facts firmly in mind we must realize that God is also relational. He wants to have relationships with each of us. I for one am glad He does. I’ve always enjoyed friendships and companionship. I have especially enjoyed spending time with people who are smarter and more interesting than me. God definitely fits that description.

Total Access to Grace

Isn’t it great to know that God offers us Total Access to His Grace. We moms can only to do so much, but God’s Grace enables us to do exactly what we need to be doing, as long as we will turn to Him.

As a homeschool wife and mother, I am responsible for caring for my home, loving my husband and assisting him when he needs me, and loving and care for the needs of my children, which includes making sure they get a good education.

An Orphan at the Door

I read a book years ago about a family that started a boarding school in their rather large home. On occasion this couple would take in orphans if they came recommended and the family believed that they could make something of the boy.

Summer should be for fun!?

We are all homeschool parents so we know that this is a myth. The children want a break from schoolwork so they can have fun. We want a break from school work for the same reason sometimes. Reality is different however.

Merey’s Great!!

My business partner and best friend Meredith is amazing. I tell people that often, as much for her good as for mine. You see the world is full of so much negative. Even things that put on a facade of positive advice are negative. This influence can be so damaging to individuals and good friendships, so constant battle becomes necessary. The best way I know to battle for my friend and my friendship with Meredith is to remind everybody, especially myself, how wonderful she is.

Let’s get healthy God’s way!!

I’ve been working for a few years at getting my health back. I’ve been overweight since I had my first child in 1990 and the pounds just continued to stick to me more and more each year, with a few dips while trying to recover from years of bad health and bad eating.

Encouragement

Two weeks ago I was out of town and last week I was out of it. Driving almost 1600 miles .

And does take a toll on the body. We went to Virginia for a wedding. My children who love the changing colors of the leaves really enjoyed it. I, however, am by no means a fan of the cold. It wasn’t terribly cold, but a nor’easter blew in with us and the weather was rainy and windy for a day and a half. Fortunately the weather cleared before the wedding and everything was lovely. The whole visit was wonderful. We were able to see so many relatives that we haven’t seen or even talked to in years. We were even able to witness the engagement of one of our nephews. I don’t think we could have asked for a better vacation.

Updates from Powerline Productions

Good morning, Joyful and Successful Homeschoolers!

What a lovely day!  I’m finally catching a breathe this week.  Mondays are jam-packed with work at home–our biggest homeschool work day.  Tuesdays, five families arrive at my house for USA History Co-op.  What a fun, exhausting day.  We talked about John Smith, Pocahontas, and Jamestown this week, but also the kings and queens of England from the War of the Roses until Charles II and how English history affected the colonization of the Eastern coast of North America.  What fun!  We are watching the Drive Thru History Videos in this class too!  Boy, are they great!  I should do a review on them….I love them all!
