Fabulous Food: Recipes and Menus!

What a joy to sit down and enjoy delicious food! Jesus and His disciples enjoyed feasting when they were invited to parties! He often enjoyed a home-cooked meal from Marthas kitchen. Jesus even cooked fish for His disciples on the beach after He had risen from the dead.

We all love good fellowship around good food. The family dinner table is a place of laughter, jokes, intellectual discussion, and discipleship training. Its also a place to enjoy a good home-cooked meal.

When you plan a menu, set a table and serve a meal, think aesthetically and gastronomically. In other words, make sure that it looks beautiful and tastes delicious. Set the table neatly, have a pretty centerpiece, and dont forget napkins. (You can whip cloth napkins up on a serger that look lovely, are easy to wash and cost efficient!)

Think about color when you serve the plate. You dont want everything to be white (chicken, mashed potatoes and cauliflower, unless you are doing a unit on Antarctica and want to serve an all white meal. Green always adds a splash of colorpeas, beans, broccoli! If you are serving beef and a baked potato (browns), dont serve carrots (orange wont add a lot of color to this plate!); add a spoonful of peas and another of corn. Now you have a pretty plate!

Treat your family like honored company sometimesget out the candles and eat by candlelight. Discover recipes that are healthy and taste good. Every once in awhile splurge on yummy foods with little nutritional value, but make it rare!

Some of these recipes are from Steve Smith, a homeschool dad and good friend of mine. He needs a kidney transplant to survive to see his grandchildren. Please pray for him!!!!! Steve and his family love the Lord and serve faithfully in our church. We are asking God for healing or a new kidney! For more info:
